8 MINUTE READ
April 12, 2021

Location: Ireland

Event: The U.S. Embassy in Dublin wishes to inform U.S. citizens resident in or traveling in Ireland that from 4:00 am Thursday, April 15, passengers arriving into Ireland from the United States must complete a 14-day mandatory hotel quarantine, even if they arrive to Ireland with a negative or ‘not detected’ PCR test and even if they have been fully vaccinated.  Passengers arriving to Ireland from or having transited through any country on the Government of Ireland’s list of designated high-risk countries must complete the mandatory hotel quarantine and are required to pre-book accommodation in a designated quarantine facility and to pre-pay for their stay.  Travelers who fail to fulfil the legal requirement for mandatory hotel quarantine can be fined up to €2,000 or get a prison sentence of up to 1 month, or both.  The 14-day quarantine period can be reduced if a negative COVID test is taken after ten days, or extended if a passenger tests positive during their stay.  The mandatory hotel quarantine program is a Government of Ireland program – the U.S. Embassy cannot intervene on behalf of private U.S. citizens who are subject to the quarantine requirement.
