U.S. Emergency Passport

If you have travel within the next two weeks and require an emergency passport schedule an appointment through our online scheduling system.

Please be aware that the U.S. Embassy is closed for both U.S. and Irish public holidays.

Please note, not all countries accept the emergency passport for entry!  If you intend to travel to a country outside of the U.S. with the limited validity emergency passport, please visit: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages.html to verify if the country will accept the emergency passport.

Lost passports are often recovered in Ireland.  Please check with local Garda (police) stations, Dublin Airport lost and found and/or lost and found for any transport services you may have used to see if it has been recovered before contacting the Embassy.

If your passport is lost/stolen/damaged, has a total validity of 5 years or was issued over 15 years ago.

Please bring the following documentation to your appointment as it applies to you:

  1. DS-11 Passport application form:    Please complete, print, and bring this form to your appointment – do not use correction fluid as this invalidates the form.  Please disregard the instructions on the form as they are for U.S. citizens applying to renew a passport within the United States.  Please only follow the instructions on this website.
  2. DS-64 Statement regarding a lost or stolen U.S. Passport book:  Please complete, print, and bring this form to your appointment – do not use correction fluid as this invalidates the form.
  3. Most recently issued U.S. Passport: If in your possession.
  4. Identification:  Valid foreign passport, valid driver’s license, photocopy of the missing passport if lost/stolen, birth certificate, or an expired U.S. passport.
  5. One 2″x 2″ U.S. passport size photo (note this is different from the Irish passport photo size):  Most large pharmacies in Ireland provide this service. Please check all passport photo requirements here.
  6. Click here for Passport Fees: Payable by card at your appointment. Both the physical signed card and card holder must be present. Cash is not accepted.
  7. Proof of immediate international travel: bring a copy of your itinerary and ticket reservations.

For minors (under 16 years of age), both parents’ consent is required, either by appearing in person at the appointment or by providing the DS-3053 (see below). You must bring to the appointment:

  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Parents’ valid photo IDs
  • Form DS-3053: If one parent cannot attend the appointment, they must complete the DS-3053, attach a photocopy of the parent’s ID, and have it notarized by a notary public. At least one parent must appear in person with the minor at the appointment.

If your passport has a total validity of 10 years and was issued in the last 15 years

Please bring the following documentation to your appointment

  • Application Form DS-82: Please complete, print, and bring this form to your appointment – do not use correction fluid as this invalidates the form.
  • Most recently issued U.S. passport: Valid for 10 -years and issued within the last 15 years.
  • One 2″x 2″ U.S. passport size photo (note this is different from the Irish passport photo size):  Most large pharmacies in Ireland provide this service. Please check all passport photo requirements here.

Security at the Embassy 

DO NOT BRING ELECTRONICS TO YOUR U.S. EMBASSY APPOINTMENT.  Please note that you cannot enter Embassy property with any electronics.  This includes laptops, tablets, memory cards, flash drives, or other peripherals.  If you have any of these items in your possession, you will be asked to find a place to store them away from the Embassy or to return on another day.  The Embassy has small lockers which can accommodate a cell phone.  No other electronics may be placed in these lockers.
