Checking CEAC

If you are applying for a nonimmigrant visa and you have completed the form DS-160, you can check the status of your application online at https://ceac.state.gov/ceac by entering your DS-160 barcode & interview location (Dublin, Ireland). You will receive one of the following messages:

You have completed and transmitted the DS-160 but your application has not yet been loaded into the system by the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit because you have either not attended an interview, or the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit has not yet received your application from the courier.

Action Required: If they have not already done so, you should schedule an appointment to apply for a visa. Please go to https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ie/niv and follow the instructions.

If you have submitted your application by courier, you should allow 5 workdays for your application to be received by the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit.  If it has been more than 5 workdays since the courier took receipt of your application, please contact the Visa Appointment Service at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ie/niv for further information. Note:  If you have transmitted the DS-160 and did not save a copy, you cannot change the form.  If you need to make changes, you will be required to complete a new DS-160.

Your case is open and ready for your interview, or if you applied by courier, for adjudication by a consular officer.  Your application will take 2 – 3 workdays to process from the date of the interview; petition based applications may take between 5 – 10 workdays, and applications submitted by courier, 7 – 10 workdays from the date on which the passport is received by the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit.

Action Required:  Continue to check CEAC until the “Status” changes. See below for further information.

Approximately 2 – 3 workdays from the date on which your status changes to issued, your passport will be handed to the courier for delivery.

Action Required. You can track your delivery online by signing into your account at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ie/niv.  If more than 10 days has passed and you are unable to track delivery, please contact the Visa Appointment Service.

Your application is undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take anything from a couple of days to several weeks; in some cases it can take 60 days or more.

Action Required:If you were handed a form letter “NIV 221g – Administrative Processing” at your interview, you will be contacted by email as soon as further action can be taken in your case.  The Nonimmigrant Visa Unit will email you at the email address provided at the time you scheduled the appointment at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/niv.

If you were advised at the time of the interview that you require a waiver of ineligibility in order for a visa to be issued, you can expect to wait between 6 to 8 months the date of your interview for your application to be processed. The Nonimmigrant Visa Unit will notify you by email as soon as they can proceed with your application.

All other applicants should to continue to check CEAC for the status to change.
