Applicants aged 14 – 79 are required to apply for a visa in person through a pre-arranged interview. Applicants under 14 or 80 and over may be eligible to apply by courier. Click here for further information.
To avoid travel delays and disappointment, the U.S. Embassy in Dublin encourages you to apply early for a visa. Students and exchange visitors should apply as soon as they have the required documents for their visa type. We recommend beginning the visa application process at least one month before your anticipated travel to the United States. This ensures time to schedule an appointment, conduct an interview, determine whether a visa can be issued, and arrange for delivery. IMPORTANT: Final travel plans or the purchase of non-refundable tickets should not be made until the visa is received.
Visas cannot be issued on the same day as the visa interview. Visa processing takes on average, 5 business days from the date of the interview. In some instances, processing times can be longer. It is not possible to collect your passport in person from the Embassy. As soon as your application has been processed, your passport will be handed to the courier service for delivery.
